Successful Arrival in Arequipa and my menstrual cramps finally went away

Unfortunately, the individual set to pick us up in Lima last night, give us a place to stay and bring us back to the airport today for our local flight to Arequipa pulled a no-show. At least we get to keep the duty-free booze and chocolate we bought as a gift.

The Executive Director/owner of the language school which has agreed to employ me picked us up at the airport in Arequipa with his daughter, a 4-year-old named Trinity. Getting off the plane on the tarmac gave us an opportunity to see the snow-capped mountain views, a smoldering volcano and the city spread out at the base. Lovely.

The director brought us to the house we'll stay in for a few days while we find an apartment and he handed me the keys. I locked the bedroom door, but it turns out none of the keys he gave me were for the bedroom door. He said there is no such thing as calling a locksmith or just getting a drill to drill through the doorknob. It is an atrium style house and there is a ledge of plants along the side of the bedroom with a little window. He went outside, got a big rock, came back in, climbed out on that ledge, smashed the window and climbed into the bedroom. He said glass is cheaper to replace than a doorknob anyway. Then, he took us to dinner at a very nice restaurant, showed me my indentured servitude schedule (I'm to start at 7am tomorrow and teach a total of 8 hours in two locations and ending at 9pm - we'll see about that). Apparently, due to the large volume of students, they're going to skip my orientation. How will I find the water cooler?
