Since When Does America Hate A Rags To Riches Story?

Look, if you don't have haters, you ain't doing life right. Why is everyone so down on Honey Boo Boo? Do you realize that show may have saved that family by shedding awareness and cash flow on their lives? Poverty and ignorance are generational -being a redneck is their family business, but now they have a chance at something better - isn't that the American Dream?

The argument that they represent everything wrong with America is misguided -unless you mean the way it is commonplace to exploit the little guy. Less than half of our adult population votes. Half of marriages end in divorce. Not everyone knows how many States there are and our achievement gap is embarrassing. Our schools are so chronically underfunded that they are open less and less. I want to pay more in taxes to educate more dumbasses. Why don't you? Honey Boo Boo and her family did not do this to us. Not being a dipshit is learned behavior. Help people learn. Our elected officials don't hear from us -so they follow the desires of the special interests that they DO hear from. Well, I do my part. At a fair, I approached the mayor of a city I don't even live in and complained about my cousin's sidewalks and how the poor little boy at the top of the hill has to ride his wheelchair down the middle of the street because the sidewalks are such a mess. Turns out it's a 24 year old woman riding her wheelchair down the middle of the street, but I don't think that's the important part of the message. I am engaged with the community. You should be too, even if it scares his wife and baby a little. Stop trash-talking a cute little kid like Honey Boo Boo. Stop doing nothing about our national decline. Vote, volunteer and know your alderpersons, council members, mayors, teachers, senators and representatives.

Why y'all gotta blame some poor ass family instead of the circumstances that allow for enormous levels of poverty in America that have essentially become invisible? As I've said before here:

People seem to be able to muster more feeling/resentment/anger over these shows than they could over the Rwandan genocide.

Get involved! Call your Congresspersons or approach them on the street while with their family because then he/she will know you mean business.

I just ate a whole bag of jelly beans and it's been a while since I've had this much sugar. I'm going to go clean my house and then make it dirty again before the sugar high wears off.
