My House Is Definitely Haunted

Around 4a.m. we woke up to the sound of glass breaking in the kitchen. We went downstairs, turned on the lights and looked for darting cats to figure out where it happened. A glass cup fell off a built-in shelf. The cup was inherited from a dead relative and was one of five. It's a narrow shelf, about 3 inches wide, built into the kitchen wall. Not only do the cats not go on that shelf, but it was in the middle of the row. Clearly, we have a ghost. It's the only logical explanation. We live in an area renowned for being a former pirate cove, so I can only assume we're being haunted by a pirate. Don't worry, I'm not going to be stupid about this and dig up our floors looking for hidden treasure. Our house was built in 1971, so I'd only dig in the yard or under the house to find the pirate booty. I'm taking that broken glass as my first clue. It could either mean that pirates hate old glass, or that the treasure is gold because the glass had a gold rim. Which one makes sense? Gold treasure. Guess what, haters? I'ma be rich!

I'm not talking about one of those scrawny and terrifying AK-47 toting Somali pirates - I'm talking about the fun kind with eyeliner and parrots and big hats. Hello summer!
