My boss is great, but he stands in the way of free food too often

We went to the Annual Meeting of a funder together - something I was happy to go to since I still can't use my gas stove because Southern Connecticut Gas Company sucks. I can't cook and salad is for chumps. The event was tonight and my lovely boss, who is a great mentor and an inspiring leader, talks so effing much that I couldn't hit the passed trays of food, couldn't sneak away to the cheese table and could only respectably drink one glass of free wine.

I almost leveled with him - I almost got super honest and said:
"Sir, I hear what you are saying and it is compelling. However, free food is very important to me right now because I am too lazy and cheap to procure myself dinner tonight. Hold that thought while I fill my pockets with spinach triangles and bread cups, nkay?"

Instead it was more like an awkward date where I pretend not to be hungry, don't make eye contact with the food and just smile and nod a lot.

Anyone interested in local giving around New Haven? If you buy a GiveGreater card for $100 before 7pm tomorrow night, the Community Foundation will give you a second $100 GiveGreater card for free!!! Do it, be charitable.
