Ever had a lipstick spoil? The tell-tale sign is that you smear it on and then it smells like you have a dirty fungus-coated foot glued to your face. I have had it happen twice, approximately three years apart, but with the same brand. They make such great colors, so I gave them a second chance.
My first experience with a rotten lipstick, it took me a couple days to narrow down the source of the smell. I gave myself a rash washing my face so much. I kept wondering to myself what athlete was sneaking into my bedroom while I slept and draping his jockstrap across my upper lip. I remember narrowing it down to Manny Ramirez or Tommy Maddox. Lots of hate there. So I caught on that it was the lipstick. . . and I wanted to replace the offensive product, but that color was discontinued. No more Firefly, so I kept using the stinky stuff because I loved it so much. Ugh, having a beverage and getting that stench on the wrong side of your lips- it was a bad idea. I finally gave it up and threw it away.
I bought another lipstick in a different awesome shade and that familiar smell came back. I tend to use pretty natural cosmetics, but wtf Clinique - are you using mayonnaise in your lipsticks?
