It's been building for a week or two. She had a runny eye on and off. Then she slowed down, finally sneezed a couple of times - maybe I heard a cough, but the clincher was on Sunday night. I had a dream that she had two very good friends that were gay male vampires. They were all hanging out with this little black guinea pig and I came over to see what was up and they told me that the guinea pig had diabetes and only Ruth could save it. I took this as an omen that Ruth was dying and needed to go to the vet right away. I may have irrationally predicted the end of my time with her and mourned that we wouldn't grow old together, cried a little, and almost agreed to let my husband wake up periodically throughout the night to confirm she was still breathing. I can't quite remember if all that happened or not.
She went in today and luckily, it was nothing serious. I only have to hold her down twice a day and squeeze putrid-tasting antibiotics down her throat for 7 days and then she'll be fine. Probably.
In other news, I had to get cable. My "roommate" put his foot down once football season started. While relieved that it didn't happen prior to the conventions because I would have blown my brains out if I'd been forced to watch any, I have been watching a lot of Futurama. I missed it. I will also continue to enjoy TLC's anti-poverty initiative, Here Comes Honey Boo Boo. In better other news, I'm having a nephew!
